Dr. Jennifer Hesterman is a retired Air Force colonel and counterterrorism expert. She is vice president, Watermark Risk Management International; advises the Homeland Security Training Institute at the College of DuPage, and is on the Crisis Response Journal’s editorial panel. She holds a doctoral degree from Benedictine University, MS degrees from Johns Hopkins and Air University, and a BS from Penn State. She was a National Defense Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies and a Harvard Senior Executive Fellow. She authored Soft Target Hardening: Protecting People from Attack, the ASIS Security Industry Book of the Year (2015). The second edition received the 2019 ASIS award and was the Social Sciences Book of the Year. She also authored Soft Target Crisis Management (2016) and The Terrorist-Criminal Nexus (2013).
